RESOLVED

The following verse of one of the old hymns of the church seems appropriate as we begin a New Year:
I Am Resolved No Longer to Linger
Charmed by The World’s Delights
Things That Are Higher, Things That Are Nobler
These Have Allured My Sight!
I Will Hasten to Him, Hasten So Glad And Free!
Jesus…. Greatest….Highest, I Will Come To Thee.
RESOLVE means to have made a definite and determined decision. In Luke Chapter 15 we read about the prodigal son. This young man started with much but threw it all away on a destructive lifestyle. He had exhausted all his resources. Separated and alienated from his father, he realizes that his only hope for survival was to go to his father and ask for mercy. Scripture says that he said: “I WILL arise and go to my father!” In desperation and despair the prodigal son RESOLVED to get up, get out of the pig pen and go home….and he did.
Amazing things happen when we RESOLVE… when we make up our mind that we are going to God. Demons nor devils can stop the person that resolves to go to God, walk with God and live for God. Regardless of afflictions, restrictions or addictions… every person has the ability to make a choice. Life in 2020 will not be the product of “chance”, but “choice” …decisions determine destiny and destination.
What have you resolved to do or be in 2020? Perhaps you are waiting for circumstances to change and things to get better before you make a change... before you live for God. I am not a prophet or the son of a prophet, but I can tell you for sure that this time next year you will be in the same situation you are in, OR worse if you put off change. Somewhere, some way… somehow, we must RESOLVE some things. Drawing closer to God, improving a marriage, living a healthier lifestyle, getting out of debt, having a better attitude….whatever it is…whatever the resolve… we don’t have to go it alone… God has promised to “never leave or forsake us”.
Philippians 4:13 says, “I CAN DO ALL THINGS through Christ who strengthens me”. God has promised to strengthen us, help us and uphold us (Isaiah 41:10). Today is a good day to “Resolve to Resolve Some Things” in our life and family.
