First Words 8-22 22
As I write this First Words today, I feel there are some that will read this that need a special touch of God---today----at this moment, in their life, family or ministry. You have been praying for a breakthrough……a change……yet, it has not come. Know this today, there is a touch of God that breaks the shackles of despair and discouragement. May I remind you that the Word of God prevails over what we see, feel, and hear. The Word of God prevails over criticism, resentment and rejection and feelings of inadequacy. I Encourage you to embrace the promises of God by faith: Matthew 17:20 says “If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed ye shall say unto this mountain be thou removed, and it shall be removed, and nothing shall be impossible unto you.” “Fear thou not for I am with thee; be not dismayed FOR I AM THY GOD; I WILL STRENGTHEN THEE, I WILL HELP THEE, I WILLL UPHOLD THEE WITH THE RIGHT HAND OF MY RIGHTEOUSNESS.” Regardless of what we see, feel, or think, the preaching of God’s Word will never return void. Preach with faith and fervency. Keep loving and serving…God is
Notice with me, in our text, the words of Andrew, “There is a lad here who has five barley loaves and two small fish, but what are they among so many?” This young boy was unknown and unnamed; yet used by the Lord to work a miracle and meet a need. A person need not be rich and famous to be used of the Lord. So often God uses common people to do some uncommon things in His Kingdom. “For God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound those things that are mighty.” David was disdained by Goliath and ridiculed by his own family…. but God used him to bring victory over the Philistine giant. Like Goliath, Satan speaks condemnation and discouragement intending to intimidate us and neutralize our faith. What we must remember is that it is God that has called us. With His appointing there is an anointing. He equips those He calls. God’s anointing on our life enables us to accomplish extraordinary things for His glory. Wherever you are, whatever God has called you to do…. press on, in faith and confidence. “Nay in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us.” (Romans 8:37)
Andrew said, “There is a lad here.” And there is a lad…. there…. somewhere in a Youth Group, somewhere in a Children’s Church, somewhere in a Royal Ranger or Girl’s Ministries class there is a young boy or young girl that God is calling. May God give us eyes to see those He is calling and wisdom to mentor them to follow God’s call on their life. Those who serve in the areas of children and/or youth ministries are to be commended and appreciated. The need for these ministries and for gender specific ministries has never been greater. In our text, this young man gave what he had to Jesus and became part of an incredible miracle. It’s still true: when we surrender what we have to God…He blesses it…. He multiplies it and meets the needs of His people.
