The Word of God

According to the website wordsrated.com, there are 100 million Bibles printed each year and there are more than 6 billion Bibles currently in print. Books that are on the New York Times Best Seller List sell from 10,000 to 100,000 copies in their first year. The Bible…God’s Word exceeds that by a long shot! Nothing in this world compares to the Bible…The Word of God. The Word of God has an unchanging answer for every situation in life. To ignore God’s Word is to ignore God’s divine directives for life. Consider with me some of the benefits of studying God’s Word.

  • God’s Word Reveals God’s Greatest Gift to Meet Man’s Greatest Need. I Peter 1:25 tells us that God’s Word contains the Gospelthe Good News of salvation through Jesus Christ. God’s Word says in Acts 4:12: Neither is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved”. Millions of books have been written throughout the course of human history, but there is only one book, inspired by God, that provides God’s salvation plan for man.

  • God’s Word Provide Us with Principles, Precepts & Promises That Do Not Change -Yet Relevant for Every Generation (I Peter 1:23). With a compass, North, South, East or West never changes. The same compass that gives accurate direction in Africa gives accurate direction in Atlanta. The same compass that gave accurate direction in 1922 gives accurate direction in 2022. That’s the way God’s Word is. A Christless culture may try to redefine “right” and “wrong”- but “right” and “wrong” in God’s Word never changes. Because of that, we can teach Biblical truth to our children and grandchildren and KNOW it will give them unchanging truth by which they can make decisions all through life.

  • God’s Word Is a Spiritual Mirror That Enables Us to See About Ourselves What Others Don’t See (James 1:23-25). When we read God’s Word it provides us with a spiritual “selfie”. Hebrews 4:12 says that the Word of God is a discerner/revealer of the very thoughts and intentions of our heart. 2 Timothy 3:16 says that God’s Word provides us with correction and instruction. That is one reason it is IMPERTATIVE that every Christian spend time in God’s Word, on a daily basis.

  • God’s Word Provides Us with Divine Counsel (Psalms 119:24). David, King of Israel, warrior and leader, relied upon the Word of God for counsel. Where do you go when you need counsel and advice? God’s Word has an answer for every problem and dilemma in life.

Get in God’s Word and let God’s Word get in you! A good place to begin reading is in the Book of Matthew. The Book of Proverbs provides wisdom for the issues of life. Blessings await those that read, study, meditate on, and apply God’s Word to their lives.
