Faithful... Part 3 - Faithful To Provide

“But my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus”
(Philippians 4:19)
In 1973, while pastoring a Baptist church in Cleveland and going to Delta State, I received the Baptism in the Holy Spirit. I immediately resigned the church and made plans to attend Southwestern Assemblies of God University in Waxahachie, Texas. I had no money and no financial support. God spoke to a businessman in Cleveland to pay my tuition for the first year. Thus, the ministry journey began. And, I can tell you that from that day to this, there have been many occasions when God has intervened in situations and met our needs.
After the birth of our first child we were in need of a clothes dryer. Once again, we had no money to purchase one, but, a family member saw one that a business had discarded. My brother-in-law and Sharon’s sister, Tricia got that dryer and brought it to us. We used that dryer for years before it wore out. Sharon and I have found God to be faithful to provide over and over again.
1. God Will Provide Guidance For Your Life. Jesus said in John 16:13, “When He the Spirit of truth is come, He will guide you into all truth...” Living life is not always easy. Marriage, family and ministry can be complicated, on our best day. We live in a world absent of absolute truth. Moral values are left to individual interpretation and the line of distinction between right and wrong is fading fast. We need the guidance of one who knows what we don’t know, and sees what we don’t see. Jesus promised that the Holy Spirit would guide us into ALL truth. How? Through God’s Word. The Holy Spirit will speak to us through God’s Word and give us guidance in every decision. Psalms 37:23 says that the steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord.
2. God Will Provide Supernatural Strength To Do What You Are Convinced You Can’t Do.
The apostle Paul said in Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”. Hebrews 13:6 says that the Lord is our Helper. Isaiah 41:10 assures us that God will help us, strengthen us and uphold us with the right hand of His righteousness. What is it that you have to do that you have said you can’t do? In the pressure of this pandemic many people have said, “I can’t do this anymore”. Listen, God is faithful to provide His strength… He will literally infuse us with His strength and enable us to do what we can’t do on our own.
3. God Will Provide For You Financially. God’s Word teaches us how to have our financial needs met. Proverbs 22:9 says that God will bless those who are generous. I will just tell you straight out - don’t expect God to provide for you if you are selfish. 2 Corinthians 9:6-10 teaches us that God gives to givers. Perhaps you are faithful to pay your tithes and are generous to others, but right now you have a financial need that you can’t meet. GOD IS FAITHFUL TO PROVIDE. Wait on God - don’t panic and put it on your credit card. In faith, stand on God’s Word… God will make a way, where there seems to be no way.
