Beyond All Limits: Part 3

God is a “Beyond All Limits” God. We see it in God’s Word from Creation to Revelation. Everything God has ever done, on planet earth, has been beyond all limits. The Plan of Salvation affirms the fact that the God we serve is a “Beyond All Limits God”. In salvation through Christ, we see the greatest love was shown when God gave the greatest gift and paid the greatest price to redeem His greatest creation.
Jesus’ Ministry Was Beyond All Limits. God’s Word tells the story of the Master and His ministry which was a ministry Beyond All Limits:
“At evening, when the sun had set, they brought to Him all who were sick and those who were demon-possessed. And the whole city was gathered together at the door. Then He healed many who were sick with various diseases and cast out many demons; and He did not allow the demons to speak, because they knew Him.”
(Mark 1:32-34)
“And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling. Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, ‘Peace, be still!’ And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. But He said to them, ‘Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?’ And they feared exceedingly, and said to one another, ‘Who can this be, that even the wind and the sea obey Him?’”
(Mark 4:37-41)
The Ministry of Jesus Serves as A Model of Ministry for Today’s Church.
Jesus is the Head of His Church (Eph. 5:23) and His Church is the body (I Cor. 12:27). As the Head of the Church, Jesus set the example for His Church and how it was to respond to the needs of an unsaved world. Indeed, Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever. His ministry hasn’t changed. That which Jesus did over two thousand years ago, He still does through His Church now…. a ministry that is Beyond All Limits. We may want the church to be prim, pretty, proper and packaged in a way to attract all and offend none…. that in no way resembles the ministry of Jesus. It is not possible to put a ministry beyond all limits in a box to be contained and controlled.
Believers Today Can Be Beyond All Limits Believers. All too often Christians live their lives restrained and restricted by a “can’t do it” mind set. You nor I need to be limited by our liabilities when the Beyond All Limits God resides in us. Jesus said, “If you ask anything in my name, I will do it”. Paul understood that God in him was a Beyond All Limits God-he said: “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.” Through the Cross, the resurrection, the name of Jesus, the Word of God, the Holy Spirit and the Gifts of the Spirit, we can live life and do ministry Beyond All Limits.
